Code 1 · On Scene Rural & Remote Queensland

Software built
under pressure.

Code 1 Studios is a one-person Apple software house run by a Registered Rescue Paramedic. Every app ships from the same workbench where the kit gets checked before shift — and the tools have to work when everything else is going sideways.

What Code 1 makes

Field-grade tools for the way you actually work.

Native Swift and SwiftUI. Offline-first. Private by default. Designed for gloves-on, one-handed, in-a-hurry use — because that’s the day job around here.

Rescue-tempo UX

Every screen you can reach with a thumb in under a second. High-contrast type, hit targets sized for gloves and cold hands, no modal traps.

Offline first

Mine sites, remote highways, drug rooms with no signal. Your data lives on your device. CloudKit is sync, not a hostage.

Made by a shift worker

Roster fatigue, night-work sleep, medic paperwork — these apps come from lived experience, not focus groups.

The lineup

Five apps. One studio. One person on the tools.

Agent Image

Batch conversion · metadata editing

Drop a folder in, walk out with clean, converted, renamed images. Full EXIF/IPTC editing, HEIC ↔ JPG ↔ PNG, and it never phones home.

ReceiptMe

Travel receipts · reimbursement in a tap

Scan a receipt at the airport gate, tag it to a trip, and email payroll the reimbursement form before you’ve boarded. Written for FIFO life.

Neon Stallion

Dark neon country · out of the same shed

When the code shuts down for the night, the DAW opens. Three singles out now on Spotify and Apple Music: Small Town Big Loud, Stuck, Boots on the Dashboard.

The medic behind the code

26 years on the road. Native Apple code by night.

Michael Blach has spent his career at the sharp end of Australian pre-hospital care: state ambulance service, motor-racing trauma teams, standby paramedic contracts, and part-time phlebotomy work to keep the venepuncture skill razor-sharp.

Code 1 Studios is what happens when you can’t find software that fits shift life — so you write it yourself. Every release comes from Rural & Remote Queensland, tested on real 12-hour night duty rosters and remote deployments where the closest genius bar is 800 kilometres away.

“If the app can’t survive a helicopter transfer at 3 a.m. with tired hands, it’s not finished yet.”
